Nine years ago, Elliott Skinner walked into an interview at Hunter Jones Group straight out of university, hoping to find his footing in the financial sector. He found more than a job—he found a career. Today, as a Senior Managing Consultant, Elliott is a key part of the team that has helped shape HJG’s reputation in the alternative property investment space.
Reflecting on his journey, Elliott highlights the power of teamwork and perseverance. “One of the most rewarding experiences has been being part of a team that’s worked incredibly hard to hit key milestones—and then seeing that recognised through the awards we’ve won together.”
For those considering property investment, Elliott’s advice is clear and grounded in experience: “Do your research. Speak to people who’ve already invested in that company or opportunity. And if you can, go and see the projects in person.”
As the UK property landscape continues to evolve, Elliott sees several emerging trends.
“Buy-to-let investors are exiting the market. Meanwhile, permitted development rights are being used more frequently. But ultimately, the rental market is under constant pressure because there simply aren’t enough homes being built.”
His day-to-day at Hunter Jones Group involves a mix of leadership and collaboration—starting with a morning meeting, then juggling new enquiries, supporting existing clients, and sitting down with various departments, including marketing, development, and the firm’s founder, Reece Mennie.
In an industry that never slows down, Elliott stays energised by setting personal goals and focusing on development. “You have to push yourself, keep learning, and constantly grow.”
But ask him what he enjoys most, and the answer is simple: “The relationships. Helping clients reach their goals and knowing you’ve played a role in that is incredibly fulfilling.”
Off the clock, Elliott adheres to a strict routine—something he admits is part of a little-known form of OCD. “Everything has to be done a certain way, in a set order, every single day,” he says with a smile.
When asked about the best piece of advice he’s ever received, he doesn’t hesitate: “You’ve got to play the cards you’ve been dealt—and make sure you play them well.”
Whether you’re taking your first step into property investment or looking to refine your strategy, Elliott’s journey reflects what we value most at Hunter Jones Group—transparency, experience, and a client-first approach.
